CONGRATULATIONS KERI-ANN AMANDA

Congratulations, Keri-Ann Amanda Greenwood of Jamaica for making it as first runner-up Miss Global. This historical feat is the first time a woman of colour is making it this far at the eleven years aged pageant. The judges picked her above the rest sixty ladies who came from all around the globe.

Meet Keri-Ann Amanda Greenwood:-

Miss Keri-Ann Amanda is twenty-four years old and is a student of the West Indies University. And she is studying International relations and doing a great job of combining it with pageants. And talking about pageants, she had a successful pageant life so far.

To start with, she won Miss Universe East Coast Jamaica pageant, then she was second runners-up Miss Universe Jamaica 2023/4 and now she is first runner-up Miss Global. Thus making history also as the first Jamaican to get this far in this pageant. All these milestones in only six years since she left St. Andrew Secondary School.

Therefore, we raise our glasses as we say congratulations Keri-Ann Amanda Greenwood for a job well done. Because out of over sixty women and more than thirteen African descendants, Keri-Ann made it count.

Grievances:-

However, still on this victory, not one indigenous African made it to the Top 20. From ever-sure South Africa, to soothing Tunisia and even the alluring DR Congo, none. Not even Ghana’s professional model got placement. The list seems to be predominantly made up Asian and European contestants.

Therefore, due to the poor outing, some Africans are threatening to quit pageants with such patterns. In fact, the Africans claim numerous biases against indigenous Africans, leading to the failed outing. And for this, they want to boycott the pageant. Do you agree that reaction is taking it too far?

Way Forward :-

Before this drastic reaction, can we take a look at the beauty requirements in that region? Maybe it is not the same universal requirements as the big four prestigious pageants. If you look at it, those ones have been able to modify their requirements with the changing world. So, dear Africans study the previous winners of the pageants and compete armed with this knowledge.

In closing and as we continue say congratulations Keri-Ann Amanda Greenwood, maybe we Africans really should avoid such pageants. Maybe the underlying message is when we say global, it does not cover indigenous Africans? Or that a spot of Black is not necessarily from the African continent?

Because we can not complain about racism when Keri-Ann Amanda Greenwood is first runner-up. Or maybe we indigenous Africans are throwing tantrums because we think we must have placements? Or maybe we are simply suffering from an eternal sense of entitlement? Or we did not do our best? Just wondering.
