The first African American EVER to complete a residency in Opthalmology in 1973 aged 30.

First EVER female faculty member in the department of ophthalmology UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute 1975 aged 32.

First EVER female African American doctor to receive a medical patent. She was 46. 1988.

Co-founder American Institute for Prevention of Blindness at 34. 1976. Motto- “eyesight is a basic human right.”

In 1986 invented Laserphaco Probe which improves treatment of cataract patients. (To be continued)
