Cameroon features in international beauty pageants. She has done so for over sixty years. Two nights ago, Cameroon finally got her first ever placement. Issie Princesse did the magic.

African giants, Nigeria and South Africa often get placements at beauty pageants. We take it for granted that South Africa would always be placed. But Sierra Leone or Gambia for instance, can not boast of such achievement.

Ghana won the Miss Grand International Pageant in 2020 , while Mauritius placed among the top ten in the same contest in 2022.

As long as international pageants have come, from Miss World to Miss Universe, Cameroon often takes part. Yet they do not get placed. Well, till Miss Universe Cameroon, 2023 turned up and changed the story.

The heroine Princesse broke the jinx. Her country got a placement. She will get a hero’s welcome back home. And we look forward to an international crown for that sister country soon.

So, what did Issie do right this time? Did her confidence make a difference? Or was it her ease as she walked down the stage during the rounds? Another point maybe the interview session. Though it was in private, we know that it counts.
