Madam Bernard is another woman who is a first of several. She was born an only child in Georgetown, Guyana in 1939. Now tell me how she won’t be great. Her father was a police sergeant.
She attained a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of London in 1963. Then a solicitor in 1964. She was in private practice till 1980.
In 1980 became FIRST female judge in High Court of Guyana. In 1992, she became the FIRST female Justice of Appeal. FIRST female Chancellor and Head of the Judiciary of Guyana .
The only female Justice of the Caribbean Court of Justice till 2014 when she left to assume a position in the Bermuda Court of Appeal.
The First woman Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Guyana.
